The designer of the figurines is a Franciscan Sister named Maria Innocentia Hummel during the 20th Century. The designs were first seen on greeting cards in 1930.
On the other hand, a German Manufacturer of Porcelain Mr. Geobel started with the manufacture of marbles and pencils in 1870′s. His dream was to manufacture fine figurines. When he saw the artwork of Sister Hummel, he convinced her to design the figurines for his factory. Sister Hummel closely supervised the creation of the pieces. She inspected and signed the pieces that pass her quality requirement.
Soon a line of figurines were created winning the hearts of Germany, Europe and soon of the world when American soldiers bought pieces to gift to their friends and relatives abroad because the Hummel Figurines are a beauty to behold.
